2. 1991

   Penicillin on Wax doubles down

   Tim Dog’s debut album expands the campaign with “Step To Me” and skits parodying Eazy-E and Dr. Dre. What began as one inflammatory single becomes a sustained record-side assault on the West Coast’s leading names.

   DJ Quik and Compton’s Most Wanted defend the city

   With N.W.A breaking apart, other Compton artists answer for the region. DJ Quik names Tim Dog on “Way 2 Fonky,” while Compton’s Most Wanted responds with “Who’s Fucking Who?”, widening the conflict beyond the original group.

   “Fuck Wit Dre Day” brings the response to The Chronic

   Dr. Dre and Snoop Dogg include Tim Dog in the roll call of rivals on The Chronic. The massive reach of “Dre Day” turns the answer into the most visible West Coast response of the feud.

   “Bitch With a Perm” targets Snoop directly

   In retrospective interviews, Tim Dog and Kool Keith describe “Fuck Compton” as a reaction to radio and record-industry attention shifting west, not lasting personal hatred. Tim Dog later meets Snoop Dogg and says the conflict was squashed before his death in 2013.
